Remember the song on Sesame Street that went “One of these  things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn’t belong….”.   That’s me with my artsy friends.  I’m the sore thumb—-the one that clearly sticks out.  The closest I came to being an artist was when I took Art 101 in college.  I really wished I would have paid attention to those slides on the wall which, unfortunately, were right after lunch and provided an opportune time to nap in the darkened room….. I’ve even taken an art lesson with some girlfriends.  Those show-offs.  So what if all of theirs looked like the goblet with fruit and mine looked like an inverted German helmet on a pole.  No matter…….someone has to be the swisher (that’s what you call the worst...

Plein-ly Speaking in Marble Falls...

You know I’ve always said, “We live in the best part of the best state in the best country in the world!”  Everyone knows about the Texas Hill Country.  Everyone knows about the Texas bluebonnets.  Everyone loves art—-especially good art…….Well, there’s something brewing in our beloved hill country, kind of a perfect storm, and it’s called PAINT THE TOWN.  It’s not only a chance for art patrons to see quality paintings of scenes that are so indicative of my hometown and outlying areas but, it’s also a fantastic chance and opportunity for “outsiders” to see just how spectacular our little part of the world is.  You may have heard of something called plein air painting.  Oui?  That’s French, ya’ll, for open (in full) air—-particularly outdoors.  The Marble Falls Paint The Town invites artist to submit their works...
