ANTHONY BOURDAIN

Teresa and I made a quick trip to Austin a couple of nights ago to see the obnoxious and entertaining, Anthony Bourdain.  I couldn’t keep track of all the F bombs and thought the first part of the show was a little narcisstic, but I either got anesthetized or just went with it and found myself enjoying what he was saying—especially his take on social media. Bass Hall was packed and obviously, he has a cult following.  I forgot to mention we went to a

wonderful Mexican food restaurant before.  I have not had Mexican food since the Maxican closed in Burnet.  I googled places to eat near Bass Hall and this one popped up.  It’s called El Chile Cafe and Cantina and is right across the interstate from the UT campus.  It would be a great place to grab a bit before the big game.  The margarita was perfect—-just a great old school, traditional margarita, which is getting hard to find.  They always want to doctor them up…..OR, they use some yucky mix.  I just don’t understand why they can’t pour some tequila and triple sec in a glass and add fresh lime.  Is that so hard?  Teresa’s mojito was good, too.  But the best thing was her pork enchilada with a mole’ sauce— to die for!  Heads up…..It’s very loud so don’t go for a quiet dinner and conversation.  The time got away with us and we were running late so we used valet parking at “The Bass”.  I just love walking out of Bass Hall, after the concert, and have the car parked right in front and facing in the go position.   We were on Mopac by the time other people were schlepping up the parking garage………Hope your summer is going well!
