Last night, Dennis and I met some friends at Canyon of the Eagles. It’s a little hill country “resort” between Burnet (dern it, lern it-in case you don’t know how to pronounce it) and Llano (and no, you don’t say Yahn-O).  From that road (Hwy 29), you turn off on RR 2341 and drive on one of the most scenic roads in the hill country.  You snake around the edge of Lake Buchannan and after about fifteen miles of hills and valley, the road dead-ends at the resort.  It’s really nice, this year, because there is actually water in the lake.  I know, you’re thinking well, isn’t that what makes it a lake?  If you would have been here the past couple of years, the lake was so low you could have walked across...

Last night, I met some friends for dinner at our new place to eat out at night in Marble Falls.  It’s not really new, the NOON SPOON has been open for lunch for a couple of years.  (Yes, people there are other places to eat lunch in Marble Falls).  Dennis and I eat out a lot so we are thrilled to have another choice.  (And for you locals, they do take out—even steaks!)  Anyway, the place had a respectable amount of people for a soft opening.  That’s one of the nice things about a small town, word gets around at the speed of light.  (I bet tonight, the place will be packed because of last nights good reviews.)  At the table are old friends and new ones.  I look around the room and see...
